Protest and violence in Brittany.
Demonstrating and contesting participate in our fundamental freedoms. But assimilating social movements to the sometimes provoked and orchestrated violence prevents us from hearing the demands.
Yes Breizh condemns violence that endangers people, businesses and collective facilities; violence that could undermine the causes it defends. But Yes Breizh demands that public action respect, in all circumstances, the freedoms, necessity and proportionality of the use of force.
A fact…
High school student mobilizations, concerns about the cost of living reducing our purchasing power, difficulties in finding housing, moving around or accessing public services—all these elements in fact express the desire to be able to live a dignified life.
Returning to the subject of education and the dissatisfaction of high school students, which is based in particular on the state of the infrastructure, the management of teachers, etc… How can one be surprised when one knows that the central state manages education by superimposing in Brittany 2 academies and 2 rectorates for educational resources, personnel, exams, and pedagogical management.
But also 5 departmental services of the National Education for educational policy, schools and colleges; 2 regions in charge of high schools, their construction, renovation, equipment, operational functioning, restoration, accommodation and technical staff.
But also 5 departments responsible for the same things for schools and colleges, but also nearly 1500 communes responsible for the same things for kindergartens and primary schools plus catering and after-school activities according to the local organization.
This disorganization is a source of dysfunction, waste of public money and therefore inefficiency. This is exactly what the high school students are pointing out.
Brittany can do better…
The concentration of decisions in Paris and their distribution among several administrations that do not always work together and sometimes compete with each other therefore dilute the responsibilities.
The devolution defended by Yes Breizh aims to give democratically elected Breton institutions the skills and resources necessary to adapt policies to the realities of the country.
Thus Yes Breizh made concrete proposals on education and training, but also on security and justice in its new edition Levrig will be available from October 24th.
On this issue, as on others, we must be able to have a real capacity for initiative, with the duty to follow decisions and to account for them rather than procrastinating until the protest takes place.
Moving forward…
Devolution will not solve all the difficulties on its own.
But it can make choices more accessible, responsibilities clearer and responses better adapted, with guarantees of solidarity and equal rights. It can also relieve the central state of some of its responsibilities so that it can focus on its royal responsibilities (monetary policy, defense, etc…).
Yes Breizh I wish that in Brittany our anger would be transformed into proposals and the proposals into manageable decisions.
Yes Breizh Is convinced that we can live in an open, supportive and responsible Brittany, where we can live with dignity and build our future.
